David Schleinkofer is a professional illustrator based in Philadelphia, and was responsible for the cover art of the Robotech novelizations. He received formal training at The University of The Arts, formerly known as Bucks County Community College and The Philadelphia College of Art.

His paintings graced many advertising agencies and book publishers in New York. (Simon and Schuster, Ballatine/DelRey to name a few). He is most well known for his science fiction novel covers in the late seventies and early eighties, including Robotech and Battlestar Galactica books. He illustrated for companies including Hasbro, Milton Bradley and Mattel. As painting work for science fiction dried up during the 90s, he now mostly paints fine art and landscapes. He has most recently worked on Sue Henry Murder Mysteries published by the Penguin Group.
